AiA and Association of Nigerian Bookmakers Sign MoU
Lagos, Nigeria – 4 September 2026 – African iGaming Alliance (AiA) and Association of Nigerian Bookmakers (ANB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for stronger cooperation on matters affecting the regulated gaming and iGaming industry in Nigeria and across Africa.
The MoU was signed today by Mrs. Olabimpe Akingba, Board Member representing African iGaming Alliance and Head of Responsible Gaming PawaTech, and Ms. Gift Tuadibofa, Executive Secretary of the Association of Nigerian Bookmakers, marking an important step towards strengthening collaboration between a Pan-African industry organization and Nigeria’s leading industry association representing licensed sport betting.
The agreement reflects the shared commitment of both organizations to fostering greater cooperation, knowledge exchange and constructive engagement on issues that are critical to the continued development of a responsible, sustainable, transparent and well-regulated gaming industry. It also recognizes the growing importance of collaboration among national industry associations and Pan-African institutions in addressing issues that increasingly extend beyond individual jurisdictions.
Through the MoU, AiA and ANB will explore opportunities for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including responsible and safer gaming, player protection, industry development, regulatory and policy matters, taxation, compliance, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT), tackling illegal and unlicensed gaming activities, market integrity, research, knowledge sharing and capacity building. The partnership will also provide a platform for both organizations to share experiences, insights and best practices from Nigeria and other African jurisdictions, contributing to a more informed and coordinated approach to the development of the continent’s gaming and iGaming sector.
Commenting on the signing, Ms. Gift Tuadibofa, Executive Secretary of the Association of Nigerian Bookmakers, said:

She further emphasized the importance of placing responsibility at the centre of industry development:

By working with organizations such as AiA, we can strengthen the collective voice of the industry while promoting standards and initiatives that support both sustainable growth and player protection.”
Speaking on behalf of the African iGaming Alliance, Mrs. Olabimpe Akingba, Board Member representing AiA and Head of Responsible Gaming PawaTech, said:

The two organizations recognize that the continued evolution of the gaming and iGaming industry is being shaped by technology, digitalization, changing consumer behavior, regulatory developments and increasing cross-border participation. These developments present opportunities for innovation and economic growth while also creating the need for stronger cooperation and shared industry standards.
Both organizations also recognize that achieving a sustainable gaming ecosystem requires the participation of a broad range of stakeholders, including operators, regulators, policymakers, industry associations, technology providers, researchers, advocacy organizations and other relevant stakeholders.
MoU marks the beginning of a strategic relationship aimed at strengthening cooperation and creating greater opportunities for collaboration on issues of mutual interest. The agreement will run for an initial period of a year, with provision for renewal by mutual agreement.
